The Frame's Guest House
Supporting You, While You Support Others
Brenda and Dave Frame
Our home may be an option if you are either supporting a loved one in the Foothills Hospital, Tom Baker Cancer Centre or Alberta Children's Hospital - or - if you are in town for several weeks of some form of treatment. It is an especially good fit if you need transportation to and from the hospital, are elderly or want the comfort of feeling like you are among friends in a family home!
Brenda has worked at the Foothills Hospital as a physical therapist and Dave has had a kidney removed due to cancer. We've "been there, done that" and know that right now you just need privacy, a place to sleep, a healthy meal to start your day and a way to get to and from the hospital. We are just 10 minutes away from the NW medical facilities and are offering to help you with those basic needs.
We are generally a bed and breakfast option - not a lodging option - so most of our guests are family members who are supporting an inpatient. Outpatients are also welcome to stay with us, as long as they are either able to be independent with their physical and medical care, or they have arranged to have a support person stay with them to assist them.
The services we offer have been approved through the City of Calgary, Alberta Health Services and through our insurance company based on the bed and breakfast regulations. Our home is a pet free and smoke free environment.
Contact us at 403-286-4164 to check for availability in one or both of our 2 guest rooms.
For $85 / night, we offer:
accommodation for a single person booking a room
a healthy breakfast
one return trip to and from the hospital
the ability to relax in any common areas of our home
someone to chat with over breakfast or in the evening if you wish (your wish for privacy will also be respected)
An extra charge exists of $10 / night for a second person sharing a room.
Both rooms can be booked for $135 / night
Discounted rates are available for extended stays. (beyond 3 weeks)
** Sorry, but this offer is for adults and teenagers only.
Most of our guests are going through a fair bit of stress, so it is important for us to maintain a calm and peaceful home environment for them to relax in. We suggest that families with young children talk to the Family Resource Center staff at the ACH for accommodation options , and the possibility of staying at the Ronald McDonald House. If they are full and you need to find a hotel - make sure you ask for their "medical rate". Families with children in the ACH typically get significantly reduced rates.
We welcome you as our guest if you are:
a non smoker
able to climb 3 steps to enter our home. There is no hand rail on the front steps.
adult age or teenagers - sorry, we can not accommodate young children
free from infection and colds
seniors will find it easy to move about in our home, as it is on one level
you are fully vaccinated for Covid (as we host many immune suppressed guests)
When you check fees at hotels close to the Foothills Hospital or the Children's Hospital, you will find that we are a very affordable option with the additional benefits of rides to the hospital, a wide range of breakfast options and the ability to stay in a warm and supportive environment.
** Hotel rates vary based on the # of guests, length of stay, days requested, season or hotel adjustments.
If you book at a hotel, make sure you ask for their medical rate.
We offer rides so that you don't need to worry about driving in traffic, paying for parking or taking a taxi. If you prefer to manage your own transportation, please be aware of the following:
Parking fees at the Children's or Foothill's Hospitals
$14.25/day $40.00/week $71/month
*** Save your receipts! You can apply a daily rate to a weekly pass, and a weekly pass to a monthly pass!
If this is for you, contact us at 403-286-4164 to check on availability.
We only have 2 rooms, however if one is available, we'd be happy to hold it for you.
Let us know if you need us to come pick you up from the hospital.
Brenda and Dave made us feel extremely welcome, provided us with delicious and nutritious breakfasts, and the room we stayed in was comfortable and clean. These hosts were extremely sensitive and respectful of our need to have time to ourselves. We also knew that if we needed to talk or share where we were at, they were there for us. Anyone who is looking for a safe haven while going through a challenging time will find their burden lightened by the hospitality and care they will receive from Brenda and Dave.
